Venezuela’s security services arrest a reserve officer charged with espionage notices

The Minister of People’s Power in Defense of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, General Vladimir Padrino Lpez, announced via the social network Twitter the arrest of the captain of the Venezuelan security authorities by the Venezuelan security authorities to the active reserve Ronald Marrero Lozano, yesterday afternoon, Monday 22 February assures that he is involved in the espionage work of the strategic systems of the Bolivarian military aviation for the benefit of foreign governments.

Although no information was given about the place of arrest or the military unit, the Cap. Marrero Lozano, GJ Padrino Lpez, assured that the reserve officer had tried to obtain information about the Sukhoi Su-30MK2 weapon system and that his contact, whose pseudonym is Andrs, was an agent of the Colombian National Intelligence Directorate with whom he communicated. through a cell phone number with the code of the Republic of Colombia, which allegedly bribed him at $ 1,000 a month.

This new fact adds to the long list of ongoing frictions both nations have sustained for several years, such as that on February 18, when GJ Vladimir Padrino Lpez denounced the actions with which the Colombian National Intelligence Directorate voted at a press conference two US security agencies against the security and sovereignty of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

The Sukhoi Su-30MK2 fighters, acquired in direct government negotiations between Moscow and Caracas and which enabled the installation of 24 aircraft, entered service in November 2006 when the first four US-assigned fighters arrived in the Latin American country.
