The first KC-46 tanker aircraft for the Japan Air Self-Defense Force

The first Boeing KC-46 tanker designed for the Japanese Air Force for self-defense made its maiden flight and started the development certification phase as well as the development certification phase for this Japanese tanker and transport aircraft that is your first export customer. Delivery is planned for this year.

The USAF received a $ 279 million contract from the Asian nation as part of the FMS (Foreign Military Sales) program in December 2017 and has signed a total of 4 aircraft. These aircraft, which are based on the commercial Boeing 767 Twinjet, together with those of the USAF in Everett, Washington state, and Boeing’s Japanese partners produce 16 percent of the cell structure.
