Defense Secretary Margarita Robles has signed a collaboration agreement between the Army Museum Foundation and the CEOE Foundation (Spanish Federation of Business Organizations) to promote the dissemination and study of the history and heritage of the Army. The signing took place at the Buenavista Palace, the headquarters of the Army Headquarters, where the Defense Minister was received by the Army Chief of Staff, General Francisco Javier Varela. After welcoming the President of the CEOE, Antonio Garamendi, and the President of the CEOE Foundation, Ftima Bez, they went to the ambassadors’ room to proceed with the signing of the agreement.
The army is an important part of society and that is why this agreement is important, that in this case the army is informed about the defense culture and that we do this with the CEOE, who represents the modern business world, that with a European projection it is an essential lever that country is, Minister Robles said in an act symbolizing the union between civil society and the armed forces.
Both referred to the Cordoba Logistics Base of the Army, a macro project with a large participation of Spanish industry, which is an expression of the impetus that we want to give not only to the army, but also to industry, competitiveness and the future. to innovation and technology, emphasized Robles. Antonio Garamendi, President of the CEOE, thanked the army professionals for their work, especially during the pandemic, stressing that this is a very special day as civil society needs to be connected and connected to the army.
In addition, the company has opted for a further connection with the Spanish industry. With this in mind, he recalled that one of the 21 strategic initiatives sent to the government to focus the use of European funds on reconstruction was specifically dedicated to the army. The Army Museum Foundation, of which the Secretary of Defense is President, was established in 2010 with the aim of promoting defense culture and helping to preserve, display and enhance the Army’s rich historical, documentary and bibliographic heritage.
The CEOE Foundation was established in 1985 with the aim of promoting sustainable development in Spain through education, training and the promotion of business ethics. The event was attended by, among others, the Secretary General of the CEOE, the Second Chief of Staff of the Army, the General of the Army Command and the Director General of the Institute for Military History and Culture.
