Local Governor Mauro Mendes and State Secretary for Public Security, Alexandre Bustamante, have officially announced the purchase of an Airbus H-125 helicopter to step up the fight against environmental crimes in Mato Grosso. The contract for the acquisition of the aircraft was signed on Monday with the company Helicpteros de Brasil (Helibras), which at the time was represented by Flvia de Souza Maia.
The helicopter has the instruments and accessories for visual flight and meets all requirements of the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac). A total of $ 3.7 million was invested in the purchase, with funding from the 2021 Plan to Fight Illegal Deforestation and Forest Fires under the Mais Mato Grosso program. Helibras must deliver the aircraft within 7 months of signing the contract.
For the State Secretary for Public Safety, Alexandre Bustamante, the government of Mato Grosso has given the Integrated Center for Air Operations (Ciopaer) a different dynamic by investing in new and more modern aircraft. We have already worked with the intensive care unit to assist with patient transportation and we also carry Covid-19 vaccines. We are entering the time of the fires and this plane will help fight environmental crime. The helicopter is also used in rescue situations in which the aircraft does not land, in accidents in places that are difficult to access. The state is very big and we need to upgrade our equipment and this plane is in good shape, said the secretary.
With this acquisition, Ciopaer now has four helicopters and six fixed-wing aircraft, two of which are UTI aircraft. (Javier Bonilla)
