How will the 1st Brazilian Air Force virtual race work?

Wing 8, an organization of the Brazilian Air Force based in Manaus (AM), will promote the 1st edition of the Santos-Dumont Virtual Race between October 23rd and November 8th. Virtual running is a concept that has gained popularity during the pandemic, as the runner participates individually wherever they want, as a treadmill, indoors or on the neighborhood street or even in the yard.

The athlete chooses the day and time for the competition, but must check the time and distance covered either by filming or using certain applications. The FAB event is part of the Aviator Day and Brazilian Air Force Day (FAB) tribute program, celebrated on October 23rd. The initiative not only promotes sports practice, but also promotes charity.

Wing Commander 8, Brigadeiro do Ar Luiz Guilherme da Silva Magarão, explains the importance of this competition: “The Santos-Dumont virtual race will be an opportunity to promote sporting practice linked to the practice of philanthropy, subjects that are currently of great importance It is important that the Manauara society lacks these measures in view of the restrictions imposed by the pandemic, ”he emphasizes.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Fraternidade Amigos Irmãos da Caridade (FAIC), a private, non-profit, non-profit and non-profit welfare association. The participant can choose whether to only take part in the race and make a donation or pay a fee and purchase the kit consisting of T-shirt and medal for participation in the event.
