Former President of the Chamber of Deputies, Edmundo Novillo Aguilar, new Minister of Defense of Bolivia-Noticias

The new government of the state of Bolivia, Luis Arce Catacora, took over its first cabinet of ministers and appointed former President of the Chamber of Deputies Edmundo Novillo Aguilar as Minister of Defense.

The new Minister of Defense, Edmundo Novillo Aguilar, was born in the city of Totora, in the department of Cochabamba. A lawyer by profession, member of the Movement for Socialism, he was elected mayor of three administrations: Cochabamba departmental council, national deputy, governor and president of the Chamber of Deputies for four successive administrations.

Edmundo Novillo stated in his first press conference that the institutional nature of the armed forces would be respected and the creation of popular militias would not be allowed, which was against the provisions of the state’s political constitution. (Aldo Eyzaguirre)
