More than fifty pilots are taking the first online aviation medicine course in “Blue Codes in Flight”. This will begin next Monday on the University of Salamanca’s virtual campus. The interest in this course, taught through Adventia by the University of Salamanca, stems from the fact that aviation pilots are learning to properly manage a time-dependent in-flight health emergency, especially when there is no toilet among passengers. The State Aviation Safety Agency includes the Medicine category in its 2019 safety assessment, which includes the events that record an emergency or medical evacuation of a passenger in flight, or a discomfort of a member of the flight crew (pilot or attendant). Events in this category account for approximately 13% per 100,000 operations. AESA concludes that the most contributing guy is the medical emergency (passengers).
