EF-18 and Eurofighter Typhoon in Air Force exercise LUCEX 21-01

Exercise LUCEX 21-01 was carried out in the week of February 8-12. The purpose of the exercise was to train the Joint Terminal Air Controller (JTAC) and Air Units in Close Air Support (CAS) on surface forces.

The aircraft EF-18 of WINGS 12 and 15, Eurofighter Typhoon of ALA 14 of the air bases in Torrejn, Zaragoza and Albacete, C-101 of the air bases in Matacn (Salamanca) and the Tigre Helicopter of the battalion of Attack Helicopters I based in took part in this edition Almagro (Ciudad Real) together with the TACP (Taltical Air Control Party) teams of the EZAPAC (Parachute Sappers Squadron), in which the JTACs of various units and evaluators were integrated. Instructor of the Military Parachute School of Alcantarilla (Murcia), where the NATO-approved center for the training and qualification of JTACs is located. The Mistral anti-aircraft missiles of the Parachute Brigade and the Aragon Brigade of the Army participated as opposition forces.

The exercise was developed in two simultaneous scenarios, the first in the Bardenas series, where training weapons were fired and cannons were fired from the aircraft, and a second scenario set up north of the Sierra de Alcubierre in the province of Huesca on this occasion Several inflatable targets were installed to simulate the targets to be located and marked by the JTAC.

The exercise was planned and conducted by the Training and Assessment Department and the Air Operations Center (AOC) at Combat Air Command Headquarters at Torrejn Air Base.
