According to a statement by the Third Air Brigade of the Chilean Air Force (FaCh), the Chile Mission Control Center in Santiago received a warning last Friday at 6.45 p.m. that an ELT device would be activated, a global positioning signal in the event of a flight emergency, on which the institution was conducting an air search – has activated Air Search and Rescue (SAR), which uses air material and human resources of the institution.
At around 9 p.m., a Bell 412 helicopter from FaCh took off from El Tepual Air Base to the location of the incident in the coastal sector of Fresia, where the crew of a civil Bell 206 helicopter registered CC-AUJ and those on Friday at 6:35 p.m. ashore crashed 15 kilometers north of the mouth of the Llico River.
Parasar operation specialists rescued the five occupants of the plane, for whom they used the helicopter’s helicopter, as the rescue center was in a wooded area. They were evacuated and taken to the helipad at Puerto Montt Hospital.
The rescued crew members were involved in the installation and maintenance of satellite antennas in the Punta Capitanes area of Fresia. The plane is reportedly owned by Platinum and its occupants were part of a team of Claro technicians performing technical tasks on site. The plane crashed on the ground while flying back to Puerto Montt. (Pamela Squella)
