The German company Rheinmetall has started delivering the first 69 logistics vans to the Bundeswehr according to the order placed at the end of last year. The peculiarity of this contract is that the customer is BwFuhrparkService GmbH (BwFPS), a 75.1% stock corporation of the Federal Ministry of Defense and the Deutsche Bahn railway company, which is responsible for the non-tactical logistics transport of the Bundeswehr.
The trucks are of the TGS 8×4 model equipped with platform lift systems, a system that helps to speed up the transportation of cargo. Eight more trucks will be shipped each week until the order is completed next year.
Rheinmetall has become the main supplier of commercial vehicles for the German armed forces through Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles (RMMV). In addition, this type of vehicle makes a significant contribution to the transport capacity of the German high-availability force serving NATO (Very High Readiness Joint Task Force or VJTF).
